
Briggs to start at QB Saturday night

(Fresno, CA) â Continuing their search for their first victory of the season, the Central Valley Coyotes of the arenafootball2 league have decided to start rookie backup quarterback, Kyle Biggs this weekend against the Rio Grande Valley Dorados, head coach Cree Morris announced today.
Biggs, 6-4, 235lbs., has appeared in three games this season for the Coyotes completing 12-of-22 passes for 117-yards, 2 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has rushed for one touchdown.
"I felt we needed to shake things up a little bit and see what the kid can do," said Morris. "Kyle is a very intelligent kid who has worked hard in practice and has played pretty well in games this year. I feel very confident with Kyle under center, he has worked hard all season long and deserves a chance to make something happen."
Prior to joining the Coyotes, Biggs began his collegiate career at Fresno City College with current Coyotes offensive coordinator, Fred Biletnikoff Jr. In his one year stint with the Rams he recorded 2,114 yards on 128-of-324 passing with 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was awarded numerous accolades after the season including, Team MVP, Conference MVP and 1st Team All-Conference. He is currently ranked 12th on the Fresno City all-time career quarterback leader board.
Biggs then transferred to the University of New Mexico Highlands to finish out his collegiate career. During his final season, he completed 90-of-189 passes for 1,430 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in eight games. He averaged 178.8 yards per game through the air which amassed a 125.46 passer rating.
"I'm excited about the opportunity Coach Morris and the rest of the coaching staff have given me," said Biggs. "I'm going to go out there Saturday night and just have fun. I'm going to do my best and hopefully that will help us to get a win."
Biggs is a native of Clovis, CA, and prepped at Clovis High School.
