Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

In a game of alternating rallies, the Idaho Falls Chukars came back from a 5-1 deficit to take a 7-5 lead, only to see the Helena Brewers rally themselves for 3 late runs to knock off the Chukars 8-7 in front of 3,027 fans at Melaleuca Field.

Coming off a rough 1-4 road trip, the Chukars looked reenergized in front of their hometown crowd in scoring one run in the second, three in the fourth, two more in the fifth and a final tally in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead with the normally reliable Cory Hall entering the game.

The Brewers would prove resilient however, scrapping together an unearned run in the seventh to pull within one, the tying run in the eighth on a seeing-eye single and the winning run in the ninth on a bloop knock to right that dropped in-between center fielder Ethan Chapman and right fielder Jerico Blanco.

The Helena come back ruined a break out game from Blanco, who entered the game 1-22 but went 3-4 with a triple and 2 RBI. Left fielder Sam Bates also played well going 1-4 with 2 RBI.

Chukars starter Zeb Sneed struggled in his first start in 11 days, lasting 4.2 innings and allowing five runs on six hits with three walks, three strikeouts and three hit batsmen. Hall (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits over his two innings pitched.

The Chukars drop to 10-13 with the loss and have lost five of their last six games, while the Brewers improve to 8-15 with the win. The two clubs will meet in the middle game of their 3-game set Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
