
Brett Sports Honored with Community Spirit Award

Last week, Brett Sports was selected for the C. Michael Archer Award for their ongoing commitment to the entire community through a wide variety of efforts including donations to local non-profit organizations and employee commitment to the community. The C. Michael Archer Award was a part of the 2005 Agora Awards presented by the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce for business excellence. Brett Sports was also one of five finalists for the Medium Business award.
Brett Sports, consisting of Brett Sports & Entertainment, the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club, Spokane Indians Baseball Club and Spokane Shadow Soccer Club, helped raise over $100,000 annually for local non-profit groups and their staff has been strongly encouraged to be involved with their favorite non-profit group. In fact, employee reviews are tied to their community involvement. Employees are allowed to use company resources, including meeting spaces, copiers, computers and more for their work on non-profit activities and are also allowed to take time out of their work day for their non-profit activities.
Brett Sports offers local non-profit organizations the opportunity to run their own concessions at Indians games as fund-raisers. Team players make regular appearances in the Spokane community at schools, hospitals, and various events. "Otto", mascot to the Spokane Indians baseball team, made 110 public appearances in 2004 alone. They truly live their company goal of "Community Involvement".
You will find Brett Sports staff on the boards of the YMCA, Boy Scouts, March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network Telethon, Little League, and the Spokane Regional Sports Commission. The staff is also active with Boys and Girls Club, Tobacco Free Spokane, Fairchild Air Force Base, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Toys for Tots.
Brett Sports radio broadcasts for GSL football and basketball generates more than $10,000 annually for local schools. Their annual "Credit Union for Kids" night generates $12,000 each year to the Children's Miracle Network and over the past 12 years Brett Sports has given over $5,000 annually to Spokane Valley Baseball. Their program with Spokane Youth Hockey raises $8,000 annually and the Spokane Chiefs offers $1 tickets to families who have children in the free or reduced lunch program.
Commitment to the Spokane Community is an everyday occurrence with Brett Sports and their employees.
