Braves Win Streak Ends at Six

Ft. Mill, SC - The Charlotte Knights beat the Richmond Braves 3-1 at Knights Stadium Friday. The Knights scored all three runs in the third inning and held off a late Braves threat to end Richmond's six game winning streak. The Braves lead in the South remains three and a half games following Toledo's 4-0 win over Durham.

The Knights erupted in the third inning. Jason Bourgeois opened the scoring with an RBI single. Casey Rogowski knocked in two runs with a single to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. The Braves tried to battle back in the ninth. Barbaro Caizares knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly and the Braves had the tying run on base with one out. David Aardsma came on to notch a pair of strikeouts to end it.

Lance Broadway worked 8.1 innings to earn the win. Aardsma picked up a save. Trey Hodges took the loss. Ryan Basner tossed three innings of scoreless relief for Richmond. Brandon Jones and Brayan Pena had two hits each for Richmond. Four Knights had two hits each.
