
Braves shut out Savannah

Rome, GA -The Rome Braves enjoyed a 3-0 Independence Day victory over the Savannah Sand Gnats Tuesday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of a sellout crowd of 5,105.
The Rome Braves got on the board in the second inning as Josh Morris singled to right field and scored on a Jamie Romak smash over the left field wall to make the score 2-0. In the third, Quentin Davis led off with a single up the middle. Eric Campbell and Maximiliano Ramirez later drew consecutive walks to load the bases for Cody Clark, who delivered with a sacrifice fly to deep center scoring Davis giving Rome the 3-0 lead.
The Braves pitching was exceptional, beginning with starter Jeff Lyman. Lyman threw four scoreless innings allowing three hits and tallying six strikeouts. Asher Demme relieved Lyman and pitched five scoreless and hitless innings to recording the win for Rome (3-4). John Lannan takes the loss for Savannah (4-6).
