Danville Otterbots News Release

DANVILLE, VA - Danville has trailed most of the current road trip, shown by a four game losing streak. However, the Pulaski Mariners could not hold on to a 2-0 lead going into the sixth inning, and the D-Braves managed to get back on track in Pulaski by the score of 4-2.

Andry Ubiera started the night on the mound for Danville, and had himself a short, but effective outing. The right hander threw four innings for Danville on the evening, striking out six Mariners while giving up both runs on four hits. Ubiera walked three batters as well.

Pulaski scored its runs in consecutive innings, the third and fourth. With one out in the third, Pulaski's Gianfranco Wawoe walked, and then was put in scoring position by an Ubiera wild pitch. After Ubiera struck out Arby Fields, Jay Baum would single to left scoring Wawoe for the game's first run. Ubiera gave up Pulaski's last run of the game on an RBI double by Yordi Calderon in the fourth inning, and with the impressive outing has continued to maintain a low ERA of 2.37 for the year.

Sean Godfrey continues to smack the cover off the baseball, extending his D-Braves season-high hitting streak to 11 games, going 3-5 on the evening. The center fielder also added a run to his stat line on the night, and has now raised his batting average to a team high and league second best .412.

Fernelys Sanchez also made a big contribution, crushing a solo home run in the seventh inning with one out, to give the D-Braves a 3-2 lead on his first home run of the season.

With the win, Danville snaps a season-high losing streak of four games, and improves to 5-6 away from ALP 325 Field. Tomorrow Danville sends out one of the league's top strikeout men, Alec Grosser (1-0, 2.89 ERA) to square off against Taylor Byrd (0-1, 4.35 ERA) for Pulaski. The Danville Braves (12-7) will continue their series against the Pulaski Mariners (10-10) in game two tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. at Calfee Park.
