Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Augusta Green Jackets 4-2 in front of 2,299 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves hold the 4-2 edge against the Green Jackets in the season series.

Rome took an early lead in the first inning on an RBI ground out from Mycal Jones to score Kyle Rose. The Braves added two runs in the second to give them the 3-0 advantage on an RBI double by Christian Bethancourt that plated Jordan Kreke followed by a Jace Whitmer single to score Bethancourt. A Mycal Jones (4) solo homerun in the fourth inning would make the Braves lead 4-0.

Augusta got on the scoreboard in the sixth on a double play ball that scored Ryan Lollis. The Green Jackets cut the Braves lead to 4-2 in the ninth on a pinch hit Hector Sanchez double that scored Dan Cook, but the Braves were able to hold on for the 4-2 win.

Arodys Vizcaino (8-3) picks up the win for Rome while Augusta's Jeremy Toole (2-1) gets the loss. Thomas Berryhill earns his second save of the year for the Braves.

The Braves face the Augusta GreenJackets again tomorrow night at seven for the third game of the series. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
