ROME, GA - The Rome Braves and Bowling Green Hot Rods wrapped up their six game series on Sunday with a 2:00 pm first pitch. The series finale would see Lisandro Santos would get his first start of the 2022 season, and Logan Workman would get the ball again for Bowling Green.

Lisandro Santos would enter the contest with an earned run average over three, and only one win under his belt. Santos would shine in his first start of the season, going five full innings and allowing no runs on two hits. Santos would fan four Hot Rod batters before Jake McSteen would be the first man out of the pen.

McSteen would inherit a two run lead thanks to a Justyn-Henry Malloy home run. Malloy's eighth inning long ball would come in the bottom half of the third inning, and would put the Braves up over the Hot Rods one run to none. Rome would find themselves in another prime scoring position in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded and Landon Stephens at the plate. Despite his forty-two runs batted in, Stephens would not get the chance to add to that total. On a one ball and no strike count, Landon Stephens would be hit by a pitch to drive in the game's second run, and give the Braves a two run to none lead.

Bowling Green would claw back in the top of the sixth and hang a four spot on Rome with a triple from Osleivis Basabe and a single from Heriberto Hernandez. Back to back errors by Cody Milligan would plate two more for the Hot Rods.

Rome would come back to tie the game in the bottom half of the seventh. Cody Milligan would score on a throwing error from Bowling Green catcher Logan Driscoll, and Justyn-Henry Malloy would drive in Vaughn Grissom with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Dylan Spain would enter the game with the score knotted at four, and Heriberto Hernandez would greet him with a towering shot that would fly into the trees just beyond the left field wall. However, Christian Robinson would go the opposite way in the bottom half of the frame with a double to left field to tie the game at five runs each. Both the Braves and Hot Rods would fall in order in the ninth inning, giving AdventHealth Stadium its first extra innings contest of the 2022 campaign.

Malcolm Van Buren would be the first man out of the pen in the tenth, and a passed ball would prove to be the difference in the game, as Bowling Green would take the contest by a final score of six runs to five. With the loss, the Braves fall to 28-23 and now shift their attention to the Wilmington Blue Rocks who come to town on Tuesday for six straight. About Rome Braves
