Richmond, VA- The Richmond Braves beat the Toledo Mud Hens 3-0 at The Diamond Friday before a sellout crowd of 12,180. Kevin Barry struck out nine in six innings to lead the Braves to a win in the opener of an eight game homestand.

Richmond took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Carlos Mendez and a double play ground ball that produced a run. Richmond added a run in the fifth on a ground ball error that allowed Jamal Strong to score.

Barry continued his dominance of Toledo, working six strong innings to earn the win. He has pitched 12 scoreless innings vs. the Mud Hens with 19 strikeouts in two starts. Phil Stockman pitched two innings to earn a save. Colby Lewis took the loss. Mendez had two hits for the Braves. Alexis Gomez had two hits for the Hens

The Braves and Mud Hens square off again tomorrow night at 7 PM. Anthony Lerew will pitch for the Braves against Jordan Tata. The first 1,500 fans will receive ballcaps courtesy of Termidor Termite Defense/Western Pest Services.
