MOBILE, AL- The Mobile BayBears lost their 11th game in 12 tries Saturday night 5-1, in front of 4,543 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium. Braves prospect Jeff Francoeur hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. Mobile only had two hits off Mississippi starting pitcher Anthony Lerew, (1-1) who threw five shutout innings.
The BayBears had chances, including leaving the bases loaded in the seventh inning. The final out in the seventh was a called strike three on Corey Smith, who was ejected moments later protesting the call. Mobile left 12 runners on base.
Game three of the series is Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05. Mobile RHP Mike Thompson makes his fourth start for the BayBears. All the action can be heard live on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 59, and on the internet via www.mobilebaybears.com.
