DANBURY, CT--On paper it was game six, but in the Trashers hearts it was game seven as the Trashers dominated Adirondack before 2,215 fans at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday night to win the series after a 4-1 victory.
Following a scoreless first period, the Trashers opened the scoring as JF David took a perfect pass from Jeff Daw at the 6:11 mark of the second period. Just 1:25 later, Bruce Richardson scored unassisted as the Trashers took a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period after they outshot Adirondack 31-7 over the first 40 minutes.
Mario Larocque's second playoff goal opened the Trasher scoring in the 3rd period at the 3:37 mark to give the Trashers a 3-0 lead before Adirondack rebounded with a Sly Cloutier power play goal at 7:25 to cut the Danbury lead back to two goals.
Danbury played a physical game and stepped it up a notch in the final half of the 3rd period, eventually scoring an empty net goal as Geno Parrish cleared the puck across the ice to seal the series.
Kris Tebbs faced 35 shots and stopped 32 while Scott Stirling allowed only one goal in 15 shots faced.
