
Bravehearts lose grudge match to Sharks

WORCESTER - The Bravehearts hosted their ring ceremony to honor players from the 2014 FCBL Championship team June 6 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. However, the Martha's Vineyard Sharks came into town and made it seven consecutive regular season victories against the Worcester Bravehearts, dating back to last season.
The Sharks collected 17 hits, and took advantage of five Bravehearts errors in an 11-4 win over the Worcester Bravehearts.
Worcester took a 2-1 into the third inning thanks to two walks with the bases loaded, but the Sharks took charge in the fifth inning, scoring six runs to take a commanding 7-3 lead. Sharks designated hitter and Pomona-Pitzer senior Kevin Brice and Hofstra University freshman and left fielder Steven Foster each had RBI doubles off LIU-Brooklyn sophomore and Bravehearts reliever Nick Freijomil, who took the loss in his first appearance of the season.
After coming in for Sharks starter Zach Brown in the fifth inning, Sharks reliever and UConn pitcher Trevor Holmes took the win after he pitched three scoreless innings.
Salve Regina senior and Sharks center fielder led all hitters going 4-6 with one run scored, and Williams College second baseman Jack Roberts went 3-6 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Every Sharks hitter had at least one hit.
The 2-1 Bravehearts hit the road for their first matchup with the North Shore Navigators at 1:30 p.m. June 7 at Fraser Field in Lynn.
