BROCKTON, Mass. - After a lackluster performance from their pitching staff the previous night, the Worcester Bravehearts responded by blanking the Eastern Division-leading Brockton Rox 3-0 on June 26 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Mass.

Marlboro, Mass., native and Bravehearts pitcher Charlie Butler got his first start of the season and kept the Brockton bats silent for most of the game. Butler threw six scoreless innings, allowing only four hits and two walks. Worcester called on Tyrone Miller to replace Butler, and Miller sealed the shutout with a three-inning save. Miller only surrendered two hits in three innings and like Butler struck out two batters and walked two.

Worcester scored the only runs of the game with single-run innings in the second, third and seventh. Starting catcher Connor David hit an RBI single in the second to score infielder Darian Ramage for the first run of the game. Outfielder Nate Pajka finished with only one hit, but he knocked in infielder Dylan Harris with a double in the third.

Bravehearts outfielder and Hopedale, Mass., native Ian Strom raised his average to .333 with a 2-4 performance at the leadoff spot. Strom is currently on a five-game hitting streak, and his 23 hits so far this season ties him for the third most in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

Brockton starter Bill Maier couldn't match Butler's dominance, as he took his first loss of the year after giving up two runs and six hits in four innings. Rox reliever Jake Fishman was much more effective in relief, as he finished the game with nine strikeouts and zero earned runs in five innings. Maier and Fishman combined to strike out 12 Bravehearts in the contest.

The 15-5 Bravehearts return home to face the Pittsfield Suns at 7:05 p.m. June 26 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. The team will host Country Night sponsored by The Country Music Ranch & Saloon in Worcester.
