Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 26)-There is nothing quite like revenge, especially when it comes in a 3-0 Brahmas shutout victory over the Mississippi RiverKings in a must win Wednesday evening.

A goal from Greg McConnell got things started for Texas in the first period at the 14:15 mark. Jordan Cameron and Kevin McLeod assisted on McConnell's second goal of the series. The Brahmas outshot the RiverKings in the opening period 12-10.

The second period moved quickly, but not too fast for the Brahmas as forward Grant Jacobsen took a feed from Justin Kinnunen and Anders Strome on the powerplay and put it past goaltender Sebastien Centomo. Each team recorded nine shots on goal.

Things heated up on the ice, proven with the twelve penalties called in the final period, but it was Texas that took advantage with the extra man. Forward Scott Sheppard scored his first goal of the playoffs on the powerplay with 13 minutes remaining on the clock.

Brahmas goaltender Brett Jaeger shined in goal stopping all 23 Mississippi shots in the game to earn his first shutout as a Texas Brahma. This is only the second shutout in Brahmas playoff history, the other came March 28, 1999 as the Brahmas and goaltender Steve Plouffe shutout Abilene 3-0.

Texas will now play the sudden death third and final game of the series tomorrow night at the NYTEX Sports Centre at 7:05 PM.
