Brett Jaeger made 23 saves as the Texas Brahmas shutout the Mississippi RiverKings 3-0 tonight in Game 2 of the Central Hockey League's Ray Miron President's Cup Northern Conference Opening Round.
Greg McConnell scored his second goal of the playoffs with 5:45 remaining in the first period to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead. Grant Jacobsen scored his first goal of the series on a power play with 6:33 remaining in the second period to make it 2-0. Then Scott Sheppard scored a power play goal for his first of the playoffs with 13:19 remaining in the third period to seal the deal for the Brahmas.
Sebastien Centomo made 27 saves for the RiverKings.
The teams play the final game of the series tomorrow in Texas at 7:05 p.m. The broadcast begins at 6:55 p.m. on Y96.1FM. The winner faces the Governor's Cup champion Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in a best-of-seven Northern Conference Semifinal that starts at CenturyTel Center on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
