Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs now know when their road to a 2008 Central Hockey League President's Cup Championship will begin. Texas battled back to beat Mississippi 3-0 on Wednesday, tying their best-of-three opening round series at one game apiece and forcing a deciding game Thursday night at the NyTex Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, TX . That means that the Mudbugs will open the playoffs with Game 1 against either the RiverKings or Brahmas at 5:05 on Sunday afternoon at CenturyTel Center . Game 2 will then be Monday night at 7:05 at the CTC.
Mississippi posted solid victory in Game 1, beating the Brahmas 6-3 on Monday night at the DeSoto Civic Center . But in Wednesday night's Game 2, Texas returned the favor. The Brahmas got a pair of powerplay goals and a shutout performance from Brett Jaeger in goal to win their first playoff game in almost exactly six years (the last time the franchise won a playoff game was March 22, 2002, also against the RiverKings).
The Mudbugs will await the victor of Thursday's game three to start their Northern Conference Semi-Final series. That means all but one of the dates in Bossier-Shreveport's first playoff series is now set:
Game 1: Sunday 3/30 5:05 pm Home
Game 2: Monday 3/31 7:07 pm Home
Game 3: Thursday 4/03 if at Mississippi
Friday 4/04 if at Texas
Game 4: Saturday 4/05 at Mississippi or Texas
Game 5: Sunday 4/06 5:05 Home (if necessary)
Game 6: Tuesday 4/08 at Mississippi or Texas (if necessary)
Game 7: Wednesay 4/09 7:05 pm Home (if necessary)
Individual game tickets for all four possible home playoff games in the Northern Conference Semi-Finals will go on sale on Thursday.
