Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Fort Worth- Fort Worth Brahmas head coach Al Sims added another skilled player to his roster this morning with the signing of center Bryan Lundbohm to a contract for the 2004-2005 Central Hockey League season.

For Lundbohm, the upcoming hockey season will be his fourth as a professional and his first in the CHL. He has played the bulk of the last three seasons in the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals, the top minor league affiliate for the NHL's Nashville Predators.

Last season, Lundbohm began the year with a professional team in Europe before returning to Milwaukee in late November. He skated in 28 games for the eventual AHL Calder Cup champion Admirals before an injury to a pectoral muscle in late January sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Before the injury, Lundbohm managed to put up 14 points on 6 goals and 8 assists.

In the 2002-2003 season, Lundbohm played in 80 games for the Admirals, scoring 9 goals and assisting on 17 others. His best offensive year in his short professional career came in his rookie season of 2001-2002, when he totaled 34 points on 11 goals and 23 assists.

Before turning pro, the Roseau, Minnesota native enjoyed an illustrious three-year career (1998-2001) at a collegiate hockey powerhouse, the University of North Dakota (NCAA Div. I-WCHA). In 122 career regular season games played for the Fighting Sioux, Lundbohm tallied 124 points (56G/68A). His best individual season at UND came in his junior year of 2000-2001. As an Assistant Captain on a Fighting Sioux team that finished as the NCAA Div. I runner up to Boston College, Lundbohm netted 32 goals and helped out with 37 others, setting collegiate single season personal best totals in goals, assists, and points (69) in the process. For his efforts, he was selected as a first team All WCHA performer for the 2000-2001 season. In the 1999-2000 season, Lundbohm lit the lamp 22 times and picked up 22 assists in 44 regular season games for a UND team that went on to win the NCAA Div. I national championship.

Prior to heading to UND, Lundbohm played two seasons of junior hockey from 1996-1998 with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL.

Sims is thrilled to have lured Lundbohm to Cowtown for this season.

"I expect Bryan Lundbohm to be a major contributor for our team this season. He is a versatile and dynamically skilled player who can play in every situation—even strength, powerplay, and penalty kill. He has been on championship teams both as a collegian and as a professional. He'll have a tremendously positive impact on our club this year," he said.

Lundbohm, 5'10", 170, is currently in training camp with the AHL's Cleveland Barons. He is the sixth Brahmas player to have been invited to an AHL training camp. Left wing Chad Woollard and d-man Sheldon Nedjelski participated in the Houston Aeros camp. Center Martin Paquet is auditioning for the Bridgeport Senators. Blueliner Mark Hynes skated with the Milwaukee Admirals, and winger Justin Laverdiere was summoned to the Providence Bruins season opening camp. Woollard, Nedjelski, Hynes and Laverdiere have all been released from their AHL obligations are back in Fort Worth. As of today, Lundbohm and Paquet remain on AHL assignment.

Lundbohm becomes the 26th player on the Brahmas training camp roster. Despite the fact that the Brahmas open their training camp next Monday, Oct. 11, Sims stated today that he is not yet finished with his roster.

"I've got a few other options still out there that I am exploring," stated the Brahmas bench boss. "Honestly, I expect to sign at least one more player, maybe two, before we hit the ice on Monday."

The Brahmas will open their eighth season in franchise history and their fourth in the CHL on Oct. 22, 2004. After three games on the road two start the season, the Brahmas will return home to Fort Worth on Saturday, Oct. 30 for their home opener at the Fort Worth Convention Center against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Season tickets for the 2004-2005 season are on sale now. For more information, please contact the Brahmas office at (817) 336-4423.
