Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Youngstown, Ohio - A hat trick by forward Joey Sewell helped the Youngstown Steelhounds overcome an early two-goal deficit and defeat the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-2 on Saturday night at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.

The game was the finale of the 2005-2006 Central Hockey League season for both Fort Worth and Youngstown. The defeat for the Brahmas, their third loss in a row, gives the club a 17-39-8 record for the year. With the win, Youngstown finishes at 24-25-5 in their inaugural CHL season. Eight of Youngstown's victories this season came over Fort Worth, as the Steelhounds were a perfect 8-0-0 against the Brahmas this year.

Thanks to first period goals from center Cory Stillman and forward Ben Gustavson, the Brahmas jumped out to a 2-0 lead to open the game.

Sewell fueled a second period comeback for the 'Hounds, scoring an even-strength goal at the 3:21 mark of the second to cut the Brahmas lead in half and then tying the game with a shorthanded goal later in the middle period.

In the third period, Sewell continued to spark the Youngstown offense, as he assisted on a score from left wing Jeff Christian 3:33 into the final twenty minutes to put the Steelhounds on top 3-2. Christian's goal, his CHL league leading 55th of the season, would stand as the eventual game winner as the Brahmas were unable to produce any late game offense. Sewell then completed his hat trick and capped off the scoring in the game when he tallied an empty net goal with just one second left on the clock.

Youngstown goaltender Simon St. Pierre earned the win in net for the Steelhounds. After coming on midway through the first period in relief of starter David St. Germain, St. Pierre stopped all 21 Brahmas shots that he faced in the game. Larry Sterling took the loss in goal for the Brahmas, allowing three Youngstown goals on the 36 shots sent his way.
