Mudbugs to Face Wichita in Round One

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- For the third straight postseason, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Wichita Thunder will meet in a best-of-seven series which will begin on Friday March 31st at the Kansas Coliseum. The 2006 Ray Miron President's Cup Playoffs feature three best-of-seven rounds for the Central Hockey League championship.
In 2004, the two rivals met in the Northern Conference Finals with the Mudbugs claiming a 4-1 series win. Last year, it was the Thunder who notched a first round series victory with an overtime series-winning goal in Game 7 at the CenturyTel Center. This season's Northern Conference Semifinals matchup will be their third postseason meeting of all-time.
Both teams enter the playoffs after winning their final four regular season games and Wichita locked up the third seed in the conference on Friday night. The Mudbugs are the second seed after winning their third straight Northeast Division title. They will play in the postseason for the eighth time in their nine-year history.
