Braden Doyle, Ty Jackson Make All-USHL Third Team

Saints defenseman Braden Doyle and forward Ty Jackson were honored by the USHL on Thursday as they received All-USHL Third Team honors. Doyle and Jackson were both key parts to one of the most successful seasons in Dubuque Fighting Saints Tier-1 history.

"Ty's grittiness, playmaking ability, and hockey sense made him one of the top forwards we had in Dubuque in recent years," said Saints GM Kalle Larsson. "Together with his twin-brother Dylan he's been making plays and putting up points his entire life, and we can't wait to see them continue that next year in the NCAA. Braden might be the player who developed the most on our team over the course of the season. He's an extremely talented player, and his work ethic and willingness to learn made him into one of the top defensemen in the USHL."

Doyle recorded the sixth-most points by a Fighting Saints defenseman in a single season. The shortened season didn't stop Doyle from amassing 32 points on seven goals and 25 assists. Doyle became the first Fighting Saints defenseman to record a hat trick in the Tier-1 era and he won two weekly awards as USHL Defenseman of the Week.

"Playing in the USHL for the Fighting Saints was an amazing experience that I will never forget," said Doyle. "I owe some much to the incredible coaching staff, my great teammates, and Saints fans for making this year so memorable. Also, a huge shout out to my Billet family of the year. Thank you, Edwards family, thank you Dubuque, thank you USHL."

Ty Jackson was a model of consistency for the Saints, dominating in his second season at the USHL level. Ty led Dubuque and was third in the league with 58 points on the season. At 1.21 points per game, only Zach Solow possesses a higher ppg number in the last 10 seasons with the Saints. Ty finished just two points short of 100 in his Dubuque career.

"This is very exciting news for me, and I am honored to be recognized by the USHL," said Jackson. "I can't thank my teammates and coaches enough for helping me achieve this accolade, and for making this season so memorable."

The third team USHL honors is the first yearly award for Doyle, while it is the second for Jackson. He was named to the USHL All-Academic team last season along with his brother Dylan.

"It's great that Ty and Braden are being recognized for their efforts," said head coach Oliver David. "They are both relentless competitors and were a joy to watch play for all of us this season."
