Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Thursday Stampede goaltender Jaxson Stauber was named to its All-USHL Second Team and forward Sam Stange to the All-USHL Third Team for their contributions throughout the 2019-20 season. Recipients of the awards are determined by a league vote of all member club general managers.
Goaltender Jaxson Stauber is in his third year with the Stampede and a native of Plymouth, Minn. Since returning to the Herd lineup on Nov. 27, 16 games into the regular season, Stauber has posted a 14-6-4 record in 24 games played, 2.45 goals-against average and a league-best .918 save percentage. He earned his second career shutout in a 2-0 victory over the Lincoln Stars on Feb. 22 with a 30-save performance.
Stauber most recently earned the team's most valuable player award for his defensive play that catapulted the Herd from last in the Western Conference to a playoff position before the season was canceled on March 18. He is the first goaltender in Stampede history to make an All-USHL team since Alex Kangas was elected to the all-rookie squad in 2006.
Forward Sam Stange is in his third year in the league and was acquired in a trade by the Herd on Feb. 25. Stange recorded 24 goals and 18 assists with the Sioux City Musketeers to begin the season. The Eau Claire, Wisc., native tallied two goals and one assist in four games with Sioux Falls.
It's the third consecutive season a Stampede player has been named to an all-USHL team: Max Crozier, Anthony Romano and Ryan Johnson (2018-19) and Jack St. Ivany (2017-18). Twenty-four different players have been named to an all-league team in organization history.
The league will be announcing more team awards in the coming week, including players of the year and All-USHL rookie first and second teams.
