Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON, MA- RHP Brad Guy scattered eight hits and allowed just one run for his second complete-game victory of the season in an 4-1 win for the Rox over the Nashua Pride before 2,689 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton. Guy allowed only a solo HR to DH Glenn Murray in the win, tossing 101 pitches in the Rox's second win of the second half. C Jason Radwan drove in a run in a three-run fourth inning and reached base four times in the game with three walks and a single. The Rox are now 5-2 against the Nashua Pride this season after the win. The Rox have won two straight games while the loss snaps a Pride four-game winning streak.
Murray's HR, his fourth longball of the season, gave the Pride a 1-0 lead in the second. Guy allowed runners to advance to second and third later in the frame, but got RF Elliot Ayala to fly out to end the threat. The Rox took the lead in the third. Facing LHP Jarrad Lavergne, 2B Mike Torres led off the inning with a single, advanced to third on a pitcher's error, and scored on a wild pitch to tied the game. After three walks loaded the bases, LF Eugene Julien and DH Guye Senjem drove home runs with sacrifice flies, and Radwan capped the scoring with a RBI single to give the Rox a 4-1 third inning lead.
The Rox were limited to just two hits the rest of the game against three Pride relievers, but Guy's total command stymied the Pride. He fanned three batters in the game and did not issue a free pass. Guy pitched a perfect 1-2-3 ninth inning for the win. Tomorrow, RHP John Kelly takes the mound for the Rox. Kelly is 4-0 with Brockton with a 0.87 ERA in five games. He faces former MLBer RHP Dan Reichert at Campaenlli Stadium at 7:05 PM.
