
Bowness Scores First QMJHL Goal in Loss to Islanders

Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
The Saint John Sea Dogs (14-10-0-3) fell to the Charlottetown Islanders (19-7-2-0) tonight at TD Station. Adam Bowness scored his first QMJHL goal and Jeremie Poirier and Josh Lawrence also hit the back of the net in the 5-3 loss on Saturday night.
Jonathan Lemieux got the start for the Sea Dogs, making 24 saves on 28 shots. Oliver Satny started for the Islanders, stopping 34 of the Sea Dogs 37 shots.
The Sea Dogs left the first period down 2-0 after the Islanders Sam Archibald and Jakub Brabenec at 5:22 and 10:36.
Shots after the first were 13-8 for the Sea Dogs.
The Sea Dogs got on the board at 4:15, when Adam Bowness, picked up the puck in front of the net and flipped it over the Islanders netminder off his backhand for his first career QMJHL goal.
Jakub Brabenec hit the back of the net for the second time of the night at 8:03 and increased the Islanders lead again.
Drew Eliott and Olivier Picard dropped the gloves at 11:45 and both received five for fighting and a ten minute misconduct. A few minutes later, Riley Bezeau and Matis Ouellet also got physical, Bezeau receiving two minutes for roughing and a misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct, while Ouellet was given the two for roughing at 14:48.
Jeremie Poirier sent a rocket from the faceoff dot, hitting the top corner and making it 3-2 at 15:37.
Shots after the second were 27-19 for the Sea Dogs.
Charlottetown increased their lead to two with their fourth goal of the night, scored by Brett Budgell at 3:18.
Josh Lawrence brought the Sea Dogs within one from behind the net, bouncing the puck off the netminders back and in.
With a minute remaining, the Sea Dogs pulled Lemieux. The Islanders scored their fifth and final goal of the night on the empty net, winning 5-3.
Final shots were 37-29 for the Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs will play again tomorrow, hosting the Val d'Or Foreurs at TD Station on December 12. Puck drop is at 3 PM.
