(Windsor, ON) - Team President Bob Boughner announced today that Spitfires alumni and current LaSalle Vipers head coach Bill Bowler is the club's new Vice President of Hockey Operations.

Bowler, 40, will work alongside General Manager Warren Rychel, while continuing in his role as head coach of the Vipers; GOJHL affiliate of the Spitfires.

Boughner says the move adds savvy to the club's management team.

"Billy is a great addition to our front office," Boughner said. "There's a longstanding relationship and familiarity there. He's an iconic figure in Spitfires history that has had success at every level of the game. It's a good fit. He's done a great job with our young prospects in LaSalle as a coach and he will continue his work there, developing players, while learning the management side of our league from Warren."

Bowler played 250 regular season games with the Spitfires from 1991-1995, recording 149 goals and a whopping 318 assists (an OHL record) for a franchise record 467 points. He added another 11 goals and 20 assists in 21 career playoff games over that span.

He went on to play nine professional seasons in the IHL, AHL, NHL and Europe.

The Toronto native previously served as an assistant coach with the Spitfires from 2005 through 2007.
