Bowie Busts Out the Brooms

BOWIE, MD- The Defenders were immersed in a sea-saw battle for over half of Sunday's contest but ultimately fell for the third straight time to Bowie, 7-2.

Bowie scored first in the very first inning as Jeff Nettles doubled in a run to give the Baysox an early 1-0 lead.

Connecticut would counter in the second as Eddy Martinez-Esteve delivered one of his three hits of the day to bring in Simon Klink from second and even things up at 1-1.

The Baysox re-claimed the lead in the home half of the second as Blake Davis singled in Ryan Finan to make it 2-1, Bowie.

After a scoreless third, the Defs got back on the board on an RBI groundout by Nestor Rojas to plate Klink from third as the game was tied up, 2-2.

Bowie snatched the lead back in the bottom of the fourth as Davis lifted a solo home run to left field as the score swung back to the home team, 3-2.

The Sox added two more in the sixth and two more in the seventh as they swept the Defenders with a win on Sunday, 7-2.

Bowie's home winning streak reached to 12 consecutive games with the victory despite a two hour rain delay to start the game.

The Defs will travel home for an eight-game homestand. Connecticut will open up against the Binghamton Mets on Monday, May 19 at 6:35pm. Tickets are still available for the contest at (860) 887-7962.
