LYNCHBURG, VA - The Delmarva Shorebirds bounced into four double plays as the offense spun its wheels in the mud in a 6-1 loss on Saturday night to the Lynchburg Hillcats at the Bank of the James Stadium.

The loss for the Shorebirds (48-41) sets up a winner-take-all series finale with the Hillcats (45-44) on Sunday.

Lynchburg got on the board right away in the bottom of the first. Angel Martinez legged out an infield single and one out later Johnathan Rodriguez doubled him home to produce the game's first run.

Alexfri Planez doubled the lead for Lynchburg with another solo homer in the fourth, his 12th of the season.

Two more came across for the Hillcats in the sixth after Delmarva walked the bases loaded and then walked in a run which was followed by a run-scoring wild pitch later in the inning to make it 5-1.

The scoring was capped in the seventh as Jhonkensy Noel doubled, stole third, and then scored on a wild pitch to put Lynchburg ahead 6-1.
