New York Boulders News Release

RAMAPO, New York - Bobby Blevins set the table with six solid innings, while the Boulders bullpen cleaned things up as Rockland shut out the New York Federals Saturday night, 6-0 in Can-Am League action.

Blevins struck out six batters on the night, giving up just four hits without a walk to earn his sixth win of the season and ending a three-game losing streak. Kent Worthington struck out three over his two innings, allowing only one hit, and Brett Carroll came on to close out the game with a clean ninth inning.

Ray Stokes reached base four times in Saturday evening's contest, scoring twice and driving in a run. Barry Wesson also had a big night, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.

After 2 1/2 scoreless innings, the Boulders threatened in the third with bases loaded and just one away. Jeremy Slayden blooped a single to left, and then Barry Wesson followed with a bloop of his own to score the first two runs for Rockland. Norm Hutchins then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in another run and leave the Boulders with a 3-0 lead after three.

The Boulders added another three in the sixth, starting with Ryde Rodriguez's fielder's choice that scored Scott Clement. Later in the inning, Ray Stokes stroked a stand-up triple down the right field line, scoring Rodriguez from first. Ryan Mollica followed with a single to left to plate Stokes, increasing the Boulders' lead to 6 runs.

After Blevins' dominant six innings, the bullpen came on and kept the Federals off the board the rest of the way.

The Boulders (11-14, 30-41) will go for the sweep Sunday evening against the New York Federals. First pitch is scheduled for the special Sunday time of 5:05 p.m.

John Muller (2-5) will make his second straight appearance as a starter Sunday evening. He will take on New York's John Masklee, who will be making his first start of the season.
