Boulders Overcome Early Deficit, Win 10-4

(POMONA, N.Y.) -- The Rockland Boulders overcame a 4-0 hole in the first inning to defeat the visiting Garden State Grays 10-4 Friday night at Provident Bank Park.

Garden State took the lead just three pitches into the game as leadoff hitter Shawn Payne belted a homer into the left field stands. The Grays got three more runs on four hits the rest of the inning.

Rockland got two runs back in the bottom of the first as Ryan Fisher doubled, and two runs came across to score.

The Boulders pulled within one in the second when Jared McDonald belted an RBI double of his own.

Marcus Nidiffer knotted the score at four with an RBI double in the third, and Charlie Law gave Rockland the lead with an RBI base hit.

The Boulders got two insurance runs in the sixth on a single by Stephen Cardullo.

The offense struck again in the seventh as three more runs crossed the plate. Law smacked a two-run homer into the left field bleachers. Junior Arrojo scored on a wild pitch.

Rockland Starter Stephen Harrold picked up his fourth win of the season as he went seven innings and struck out five.

Garden State's Sean Gregory lasted 3.1 innings and suffered the loss.
