Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - The Rockland Boulders overwhelmed the Ottawa Champions en route to a 5-0 victory on Saturday evening at Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona, New York.
All of Rockland's runs were scored in the first four innings. CF Mike Montville hit a leadoff home run - his first of two RBIs on the day. 2B Rylan Sandoval also drove in a pair of runs for the home side.
The Boulders got a tremendous starting pitching performance from RHP David Palladino. Palladino went seven innings while only surrendering six base runners. RHP Trey Haley and RHP Kyle Hansen finished the job for Rockland.
The Champions got hits from five different batters. RF Steve Brown reached base twice, thanks to a single and a walk.
RHP Miles Sheehan was impressive out of the bullpen for Ottawa. The young righty tossed three innings while giving up a lone hit and worked out of a runners-on-the-corners jam in the seventh.
LHP Evan Rutckyj took the loss after giving up all five runs over four innings of work in a spot start. RHP James Jones also threw a scoreless inning for Ottawa.
The Champions and Boulders will conclude their four-game series tomorrow, Sunday, August 19 at 5:00 p.m. Ottawa opens a four-game set in Quebec City on Monday, August 20 and will return to RCGT Park on Friday, August 24.
