Boucher Looking to Snag 4th Komet Cup
May 4, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN -- Nick Boucher has a chance to extend his Komet record of championship wins by a goaltender to four when the puck drops on Game 4 of the CHL Championship series Saturday night at 8:15 in Fort Wayne. The Komets lead the best-of-7 series 3-0 and need one additional victory to capture the franchise's ninth league crown in it's 18th Finals appearance.
Boucher has been between the Fort Wayne pipes for five consecutive seasons and collected league championships in each of his first three seasons with the Komets in the renewed International Hockey League.
During 2011-12, Boucher was named starting goaltender in the 2012 CHL All-Star Team and led the K's to the CHL Turner Conference Trophy during the regular season. At the close of the regular season campaign, Boucher was named by his teammates as the Komets Most Valuable Player for the year. Boucher can claim his fourth Fort Wayne crown by backstopping the Komets to a sweep of the Wichita Thunder in the CHL Presidents' Cup Finals Saturday night.
Boucher enters Saturday night's game riding a five-game win string. The veteran netminder has appeared in all 16 playoff games to date winning 11 (11-4). Boucher can tie Fort Wayne's record of most wins by a goaltender in the playoffs, set by Pokey Reddick during the 1993 IHL playoffs, by registering his 12th win with a Championship victory Saturday night.
Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at Ticketmaster. For ticket information call the Komet office at (260) 483-0011, or visit the Komets online at www.komets.com.
