Boston Breakers News Release

HANOVER, Mass. (July 22, 2015) - The Boston Breakers announced today that defender Bianca Calderone has been named to the roster as an amateur call-up.

The 22-year-old from Wellesley, Mass. was selected by the Breakers in the 2015 National Women's Soccer League College Draft (fourth round, 33rd overall), making her the first player from Northeastern University drafted into the NWSL.

Calderone, the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, played 64 games during her four-year career at Northeastern. She anchored a back line that led the Huskies to a program-best 15 wins in 2014 and sent the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

A First-Team All-CAA, First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region, and First-Team All-New England honoree, Calderone scored five goals and tallied four assists for her career. Three of those goals and all four assists came during her senior season of 2014.

In the summer of 2014, Calderone captained the Boston Breakers College Academy Team in the Women's Premier Soccer League.

The Breakers play at home Wednesday, July 22, at 7 p.m. ET against the first-place Chicago Red Stars. To purchase tickets, visit www.breakerstickets.com.
