Boston Breakers News Release

HANOVER, Mass (June 19, 2015) - The Boston Breakers return from a two-week break for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup to face Seattle Reign FC Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium in Allston, Mass.

The Breakers (3-3-2, 11 points, fourth place) have a chance to extend their current unbeaten streak to five and their home unbeaten streak to seven, a stretch that began late last season with a pair of victories and has continued into this season with three wins and one draw at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. During the 5-0-1 run at home that dates back to Aug. 10, 2014, the Breakers have registered four shutouts, including two this season from goalkeeper Jami Kranich. This season at home, the Breakers are 3-0-1 with two shutouts. They've conceded just three goals in that span.

In the last four games, the Breakers are 2-0-2, picking up a 1-1 draw in their most recent action, June 6 at Washington, courtesy of Maddy Evans. The third-year Breaker scored the first goal of her professional career to tie the match in the 66th minute. Prior to the tie against the Spirit, the Breakers beat FC Kansas City, 1-0, tied Sky Blue FC, 1-1, and topped Portland Thorns FC, 1-0, all at home.

Seattle Reign FC (3-2-2, 11 points, third place) come to Boston for the first time this season and have two wins and two draws in their last four matches. Their most recent outing - June 6 - produced a 3-0 victory at home against Sky Blue FC. Seattle is winless away from home, going 0-2-1. But despite missing U.S. Women's National Team midfielder Megan Rapinoe and keeper Hope Solo, the Reign bring a potent lineup to Boston, one that includes Beverly Yanez, Welsh international Jess Fishlock, and Scottish striker Kim Little. Yanez and Fishlock are tied for the team lead in goals scored (three), and Little has one goal and a team-high three assists.

"I think Seattle is still the marquee team of the league. As far as playing style and efficiency, they are second to none," Boston Breakers head coach Tom Durkin said. "They are highly dangerous in the attack through the prowess of Fishlock, who is a super strong player with or without the ball. And Kim Little, she's the marquee player of the league. Mariah Nogueira is doing really well in the midfield, along with (Keelin) Winters. That midfield is really solid. We have to try to get at their back line. We have to try to disrupt their buildup. It's a really big test for our team."

The Breakers are led by midfielder Kristie Mewis and Stephanie McCaffrey, who both have a team-high two goals. The back line, anchored by captains and center backs Julie King and Kassey Kallman, along with keeper Jami Kranich, have conceded just three goals in their last four games.

Following Sunday's game against Seattle, the Breakers remain at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium for three more matches before heading back out on the road. They play Sunday, June 28 vs. Western New York (5 p.m.); Thursday, July 9 vs. FC Kansas City (7 p.m.); and Wednesday, July 15 (7 p.m.) vs. the Chicago Red Stars.
