Boron Silences Thunder in 2-1 Overtime Victory

(Rapid City, SD) - On Tuesday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, the Rapid City Rush faced the Wichita Thunder in the final meeting the regular season. Goaltender Tim Boron would lead the Rush with 48 saves assisted with goals from Jesse Schultz and Damian Surma en route to a 2-1 overtime thriller. Despite heavy shooting on both sides of the ice it would take until 12:21 into the second period before either team would get on the scoreboard. RG Flath opened up the scoring for the Thunder on a power play goal from the right circle to give Wichita the one goal advantage heading into the second intermission.

The Rush shifted momentum just 37 seconds into the final frame as veteran Jesse Schultz buried a power play goal off a pass by Damian Surma, who was credited with his team leading 26th assisted of the season. Boron would turn away 20 shots in the third period with 46 shots by the end of regulation sending the contest to extra time.

The dynamic duo would strike again 3:08 into the overtime period as Damian Surma potted the game winning goal with the assist coming from Jesse Schultz, giving each player two points on the night and lifting the Rush to a dramatic 2-1 victory.

Tim Boron would end tonight with a total of 48 saves.
