
Sundogs Drop Game to Brahmas in 4-3 Overtime Loss

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs dropped their game against the Ft. Worth Brahmas in a 4-3 overtime loss Tuesday night in Tim's Toyota Center.
Jake Hauswirth scored Arizona's opening goal 5:41 into the first period. His goal came on the power play after Sy Nutkevitch was called for slashing. Kevin Petovello and Ron Meyers each picked up an assist. Five minutes later the Brahmas John Snowden would answer back with, their own power play goal when Paul Kurceba was issued two minutes for interference. Derek LeBlanc and Nick Schneider squared off with LeBlanc winning the tousle and they were each issued five minute coincidental fighting penalties. In the second period LeBlanc would be issued 22 penalty minutes and a game misconduct for abuse of an official.
With 45 seconds left in the middle frame Hauswirth chipped the puck past Kristofer Westblom tallying his second goal of the night. Meyers and Matt McCready were each credited with the assists. The Brahmas evened the score with a shot from Riley Boychuk 1:45 into the final period. Chad Nehring returned the favor scoring his 27th goal of the season, 5:49 later. Petovello and McCready each registered their second point of the night. Brendon Hodge tied the game forcing it into overtime when he lit the lamp with 5:39 left in regulation. His goal came on the power play after Adam Smyth was accessed two minutes for cross checking. The Brahmas would take win with a goal from Tomas Klempa 2:11 into overtime.
Adam Russo took the loss for the Sundogs making 26 saves. Ft. Worth outshot Arizona 30-27. Arizona was 1-2 on the power play and Ft. Worth was 2-7. The Sundogs picked up a point in overtime holding them in sixth place in the Central Hockey League standings with 51 points. The Sundogs play again tomorrow at 6:05 at Tim's Toyota Center against the Ft. Worth Brahmas and will also present their first ever Rooster Run during first intermission.
