SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, will celebrate the Village of Schaumburg's German heritage with a special Early Oktoberfest promotion on Friday, June 9th at Boomers Stadium.

The Early Oktoberfest event, presented by Hofbräuhaus Chicago, will feature Boomers players wearing special lederhosen-style jerseys (Picture attached) that will be auctioned during the ballgame to benefit Oak Leyden Adult Services. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. and will also feature discounted bratwurst, never-before-offered German beers including Warsteiner, German-themed contests and a pre-game performance by the band Alpine Thunder.

"Although Schaumburg is now considered a center for commercial activity, it's earliest residents were primarily German immigrants that made their living running family farms," said Boomers president Pete Laven. "They are the people that built this community and it will be fun for us to pay tribute to them while giving our fans a fresh, new experience with our Early Oktoberfest promotion."

The evening will be capped off with a Post-Game Fireworks show courtesy of Wintrust Community Banks.

"As a community founded by hardworking settlers who were proud of their rich German heritage, the Village of Schaumburg is happy the Schaumburg Boomers will have some fun by celebrating Oktoberfest early at the ballpark in June," said Schaumburg Village President Al Larson. "We hope you will take part in this fun celebration featuring German food, drink and music at Boomers stadium in what is sure to be a great time for everyone."

The Boomers (14-7), currently tied for first place in the Frontier League's East Division, will host the Normal Cornbelters in a three - game series this weekend Friday - Sunday.
