
Bonk Hat Trick Propels Allen Past Tulsa

ALLEN, Texas- The first place Allen Americans closed out a great 2010 in style tonight with a 10-1 victory over the Tulsa Oilers in front of 3,982 at the Allen Event Center.
After falling to the Oilers 5-0 in their previous meeting, the Americans came out firing in this one with four first period goals. Dave Bonk opened the scoring 2:10 into the period when his wrister from the slot sailed past Ian Keserich for his ninth goal of the season. Erik Adams and Judd Blackwater were credited with the assists on the play.
Bonk added his second of the night and extended the Americans lead to 2-0 with a power play goal 8:37 later after getting his stick on Blackwater's shot from the point and deflecting it over Keserich's shoulder.
Liam Huculak struck next with a backhander to make it a 3-0 game with 8:16 remaining in the period, followed by Bruce Graham who found the back of the net 7:06 later to give the Americans a 4-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Scott Campbell continued to impress in net for Allen, stopping all 7 shots he faced in the frame.
The second period saw the Americans extend their lead to 6-0 with goals from Judd Blackwater and Nino Musitelli at 5:38 and 9:05, respectively. Tulsa's Chad Costello scored on a breakaway with 0:24 remaining in the middle frame to trim the Americans lead to 6-1. After forty minutes of play, the Americans held a 34-9 shot advantage over the Oilers.
The Americans kept on rolling in the third period, receiving goals from Tobias Whelan, Kip Brennan, Dave Bonk and Nino Musitelli to expand their lead to 10-1. Bonk's goal at 15:15 of the frame gave him six points on the night and the third Americans hat-trick of the season.
Scott Campbell finished the game with 18 saves on 19 shots and is now 5-0-0 with the Americans.
Allen improves to 22-5-1 on the season with the win, and remain atop the Berry Conference and the Central Hockey League with 45 points.
