
Bonevacia Leads 'Birds Past Cyclones

(ABERDEEN, MD) - The âBirds snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over Brooklyn on Saturday at Ripken Stadium.
Aberdeen (4-4) used four runs on 10 hits to snap the Cyclones' (6-2) four game win streak. Brooklyn scored a pair of runs on four hits.
Right fielder Arthur Bonevacia led the âBirds with a 3-for-4 performance, scoring a run and adding two RBI.
Starter Kenny Moreland improved to 2-0 after tossing six innings. The Springfield, VA native gave up one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts. Scott Muller picked up his first save of the season after tossing one scoreless frame.
Aberdeen began their four-run tally in the top of the third when Bonevacia doubled to left field, followed by a Blake Davis RBI double. T.J. Baxter followed with a single, while Garabez Rosa eventually scored by virtue of an error by third baseman Matt Bouchard.
The Cyclones responded in the fourth inning when Matt Gaski and Bouchard added runs to splice the âBirds lead to 4-2.
Seven out of the nine âBirds starters collected hits as Aberdeen collected a high in hits since June 21 at Hudson Valley, where they would hit 12.
Left-hander Nick Haughian (0-1, 1.80 ERA) will face Staten Island lefty Trenton Lare (1-0, 0.00 ERA). First pitch will be at 4:05 p.m. at Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island.
