Battle Creek, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers are proud to announce the signings of Hank Trulock and Steven Wells Jr., two underclassmen from Florida State University. The Seminoles are currently ranked in each of the five major DI baseball polls, checking in as high as No. 6.

INF Hank Trulock (6'1", 190, Sophomore, Bats: R/Throws: R)

Truluck is off to a nice start in his second season with the Seminoles, batting .284 with a very impressive .435 on-base-percentage. During his freshman campaign, he appeared in 23 games, including three as a starter, hitting .283 in 23 at-bats, while notching three RBI, drawing seven walks, and stealing two bases. He also recorded four hits in his eight at bats with runners in scoring position. He was named to FSU's Dean's list last fall.

While playing for the Leesburg Lightning of the Florida Collegiate Summer League, Truluck played in 27 games, posting a .270 batting average in 89 at-bats. He ranked third on the Lightning with 14 walks and fifth with 29 hits, while also knocking in six runs.

"Hank is going to be a utility guy this summer, probably seeing time at third base, second base, and shortstop," Field Manager Robert Robinson said. "He is a great overall athlete who is smooth in the infield. At the plate, he can hit to all fields. Coming from a national powerhouse like Florida State, he will be ready for the day-to-day grind of a Northwoods League season."

OF/RHP Steven Wells Jr. (6'2", 175, Freshman, Bats: R/Throws: R)

Wells Jr. enters his first year in Tallahassee as a true freshman, both pitching and playing in the outfield. So far this season he has seen the majority of his time in the field, but has also registered one scoreless inning pitched, while notching two strikeouts. In his first at-bat as a Seminole, Wells Jr. pulled a home run off the top of the scoreboard at Dick Howser Stadium in FSU's 15-2 win over Oakland University.

At Key West High School, Wells Jr. was nearly unhittable on the mound, casting a 7-0 record, recording two saves, and only giving up one earned run (0.18 ERA). With the bat, Wells Jr. hit .461 to go along with a .765 slugging percentage. He had 13 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 25 RBI. He was a four-year varsity starter and was named Defensive Player of the Year all four high school seasons.

"Steven will spend most of his time in the outfield this summer, while pitching occasionally," Robinson said. "His defense in the outfield is perfect for C.O. Brown stadium because he has a live arm and tracks balls well. At the plate, he is a gap-to-gap guy with some pop, as shown by the home run in his first collegiate at bat. I look forward to seeing what Steven can bring to the table in the outfield, at the plate, and on the mound"

Wells Jr., Trulock, and the rest of the Bombers' start their summer season at C.O Brown Stadium on May 26th, opening day of the Northwoods League season, when the Bombers host the defending NWL Champion Lakeshore Chinooks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
