Bombers hit the basketball court for cure

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Ecole Charleswood School are once again teaming-up to shoot for a cure for cancer.

The 4th Annual Shoot for the Cure charity basketball game will take place THURSDAY, MARCH 22 at Charleswood School, located at 505 Oakdale Blvd. Tip-off time is 1:45 p.m.

The game will feature Winnipeg Blue Bombers players and coaches like Jon Oosterhuis, Matt Sheridan, Neil McKinlay and Charles Roberts versus members of Charleswood School's Grade 9 boys' basketball team.

Last year's Shoot for the Cure game raised approximately $2,500 for the Never Alone Foundation. CancerCare Manitoba is the primary beneficiary of the Never Alone Foundation, which was conceived of by Bombers President and CEO Lyle Bauer following his own battle with cancer.

As was the case last year, Charleswood students will receive admission to the game and a Never Alone wristband with each $5 donation to Never Alone. About 500 staff and students packed the gym for last year's game to help raise funds for cancer research and education.
