Bombers Fall to Generals
June 26, 2018 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Victoria, TX - In a battle between the league's top two teams, the back and forth game went in favor of the home team, as Victoria won 6-5 over the Brazos Valley Bombers. This loss drops the Bombers record to 16-9 on the season as the team looks to win the first half of the TCL season and clinch a home playoff game.
The Bombers did not start off strong, falling behind 1-0 after the first inning, before the offense exploded for three runs in the second inning. The first pair of Bomber runs scored on a passed ball and throwing error respectively, with the third Bomber run coming when Sy Snedeker scored on a wild pitch. Unfortunately, the Bombers lead would not last long as the Marshals would even the score in the bottom half of the inning at three.
The Bombers would regain the lead in the 5th inning, with Christian Sepulveda driving in Cole Coker on a RBI single. The balance of the game would shift once again in the 6th and 7th innings, where the Generals would score one run in each inning to take a 5-4 lead. That would be the score heading into the 9th, before the Bombers would again force extra innings as Cam Haller scored on a wild pitch. Extra innings would not be friendly for the Bombers, as the Generals were able to get a walk off single off the bat of Thomas Jefferies, ending the game in a 6-5 win for the Generals
The Bombers finish the road series against Victoria tomorrow before traveling to Texarkana for a two game series. The Bombers will return home Saturday against the Marshals for an early Independence Day celebration at the ballpark and fireworks show..
