Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX - In their final regular season game, the Brazos Valley Bombers (42-14) completed a sweep over the Texas Marshals (19-37) with a 6-3 victory Friday.

The Bombers got on the board first, plating two runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Marshals would then fight back with a three-run fifth to take the lead 3-2.

Scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Bombers reclaimed a 4-3 lead and continued to add to it in the eighth as two more runs came home. In the same inning, shortstop Jimmy Norris would steal his 22nd base of the season, becoming the new single-season stolen bases record holder for the Bombers.

"When they first got here, the first day I told them 'don't be scared of failure, be aggressive,'" said assistant coach Tyler Gillum. "We've got a great group of guys- gamers that played hard all year. [We] taught them a couple things on how to steal bases- they really bought into it and really took advantage of it."

The Bombers will return to Cellucor Field Saturday night for a do-or-die playoff game against the East Texas PumpJacks in the first round of the 2014 TCL Playoffs. If the Bombers win Saturday, they will advance to the championship series; a best of three against the winner of the Acadiana Cane Cutters and Victoria Generals. Saturday's game begins at 7:05 p.m. and is Kid's Free Saturday presented by Chicken Express, where kids enter, eat, and play for free.
