BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Madison Mallards broke a 2-2 tie with an unearned run in the eighth inning and held on to defeat the Battle Creek Bombers 3-2 in the series opener at C.O. Brown Stadium.

Each team scored single runs in the first and fourth innings. After Dan Rockett doubled with two outs in the first, Sikes Orvis drove him in with an RBI single. In the fourth with two outs, Dillon Moyer walked, then stole second and came all the way around to score on a pair of Madison errors.

In the eighth, with runners on first and third and two outs, a passed ball by Bombers catcher Jeremy Shay allowed Mike Reuvekamp to come across with what would eventually be the game winning run.

Danny Sullivan pitched two perfect innings in relief and struck out four to earn the victory. John Hamilton set down Battle Creek in order in the ninth and recorded the save.

The two teams close out the series Thursday night at C.O. Brown Stadium at 7:05 E.T. Casey Mulholland gets the start for the Bombers.
