Bombers Drop Close Game at Home to End Homestand

June 14, 2018 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL) - Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan/College Station, TX - The Bombers came up short in the final game of the series against the Victoria Generals in front of a rowdy crowd at Travis Field. The fans celebrated Hump Day at the ballpark with camel rides, meanwhile the Bombers struggled to convert hits to runs.

The Bombers fell behind early, after the Generals took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The team ended the game with seven hits, two errors, and only one run. With several hits and opportunities to score the Bombers struggled to bring base runners back to home safely. Casey Danley scored the solo run for the Bombers off of a sacrifice fly to center field. The Bombers struggled with runners on base, hitting into multiple double plays when it appeared the club would break out and rally against Generals pitching.

The Bombers pitching did a superb job, after the first inning the club did an excellent job of keeping the Generals baserunners to a minimum. Starting pitcher Chandler Jozwiak pitched for five innings facing 24 batters and giving up only 3 hits. The bullpen for tonight's game consisted of Zach Iverson, Copdy LeCompte, Kyle Bergeron, and Hunter Reeves, each pitching for one inning to end the game. The bullpen did a good job of keeping the team in the game, giving up only 1 hit in the 6th inning. The Bombers made a final attempt to tie the game up in the bottom of the 9th with runners on the corners with two outs, however Ryan Johnson popped out to end the game.

The Bombers will be on the road for the next four games, first facing the Victoria Generals June 14th and 15th, followed by the Texas Marshals in Dallas, Texas on the 16th and 17th. The Bombers will return home to face the Texas Marshals again on June 18th at Travis Field.
