Bombers Donate $24,000 to Local Not-For-Profits

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Football Club today announced that it has donated $8,000 to each of three important community organizations including Siloam Mission, the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, and Hunger for Hope through Winnipeg Harvest.
"We'd like to thank our fans for the fantastic Canadian Football Hall of Fame weekend back in November," said Blue Bomber Vice-President & COO, Jim Bell who chaired the dinner. "Their support allowed us to make donations to these wonderful community organizations."
On behalf of Hunger for Hope and the Club's radio broadcast partner, CJOB, Steve Dubois thanked the Bombers for being part of a combined effort to bring an end to childhood hunger in Manitoba. "The funds raised for Hunger for Hope recently passed the one million dollar mark after five years of hard work, including by Garth Buchko who played a major leadership role in developing and promoting the initiative."
At a time of year when funds typically drop off after Christmas, Siloam Mission Executive Director, Floyd Perras, said "this donation from the Winnipeg Football Club will be especially helpful when so many of our city neighbours struggle with staying warm in the extreme temperatures. We are very grateful the Bombers are partnering with us to help those experiencing poverty and homelessness."
The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame also expressed its appreciation for the generous support. "These funds will help us implement programming for our new Museum Gallery at 145 Pacific Avenue in the Sport for Life Centre," said Board President, Don Pincock.
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame weekend was presented by Manitoba Lotteries.
