
Bomback Powers Pittsfield Past Sussex 8-5

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials took down the Sussex Skyhawks 8-5 at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield on Tuesday night.
Colonials' starter Miguel Flores (6-4) threw six innings in the outing allowing just one unearned run on four hits while striking-out six batters. Reymond Cruz was hit for four runs (three earned) on two hits in just one-third of an inning out of the bullpen; however Pittsfield were able to deaden the Sussex rally without further incident. Closer Juan Padilla (8) nailed down the save with a perfect ninth.
Pittsfield second baseman Danny Bomback (3-for-4, HR, 4 RBI) clubbed a three-run shot and drove in four runs for the Colonials, while centerfielder Quentin Davis (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) also left the yard and knocked in a pair.
Skyhawks starting pitcher Jimmy Kennedy (0-1) suffered the loss and was hit for seven runs on eight hits.
Skyhawks' shortstop Chase Fontaine (2-for-3, 2 RBI) knocked in a pair with a two-run single in the game while teammate Vincent Blue (2-for-3, 2B) collected a pair of hits including a double.
The Colonials continue the series with the third and final game against the Sussex Skyhawks on Wednesday night when lefty David Qualben (4-6) is scheduled to take the ball for the Colonials for a 7:05pm first pitch.
