
Bolts Sweep Double Header Over Miners

AUGUSTA, NY- The Windy City ThunderBolts swept a pair of 4-1 victories Saturday at Skylands Stadium.
Sussex County (29-22) began the scoring when shortstop Willie Escala drove an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning for a 1-0 Miners lead in game one.
Until the top of the fifth inning, Windy City (23-30) stood hitless in the contest until Jake Boone led off the top of the fifth with a ground ball single. Bolts left fielder Daniel Robinson followed with a single of his own, putting the Bolts in business with runners on first and second base.
With two outs, Windy City shortstop Troy Viola singled to the left side knotting the game at 1-1. The next batter to the plate Junior Martina blistered a three run home run to left field as Windy City took a 4-1 lead capping off a four run fifth inning for Windy City.
Bolts starting pitcher Garrett Christman (5-2) tossed 5.2 IP, allowing one run over five hits while walking one and striking out three.
ThunderBolts RHP Daiveyon Whittle registered his fifth save of the season with spotless bottom of the seventh inning for a 4-1 Bolts victory.
In game two, Javier Reynoso (1-0) appeared in his second start for Windy City, not allowing a base runner through three innings.
Windy City centerfielder Bren Spillane doubled in the top of the fourth with two outs. The next batter to the plate, ThunderBolts designated hitter Peyton Isaacson, dribbled an opposite field RBI single on a ground ball putting Windy City on top 1-0.
Sussex County tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Reynoso surrendered a two-out walk to score after an RBI triple by Jawauan Harris knotted the game 1-1.
Coumoulos tripled led off the top of the sixth inning.With two outs, Micah Yonamine blooped an opposite field RBI single to right field giving Windy City a 2-1 lead. The next batter, Jake Boone, hit a sharp ground ball to first base. Boone hustled his way to first base before Miners' Pitcher Tyler Thornton could get to the bag, loading the bases. With Daniel Robinson at the plate and a 3-2 count with two outs, Robinson drilled a two-run single to right field giving the ThunderBolts a 4-1 advantage.
Reynoso tallied six innings of work, surrendering one earned run on four hits while allowing two walks and striking out five in his first career frontier league victory.
Windy City RHP Austin Marozas pitched a seamless bottom of the seventh inning for his third save of the season and second 4-1 Windy City win of the day.
Windy City wraps up a weekend in New York with a 1PM CT first pitch against the Sussex County Miners Sunday afternoon at Skylands Stadium. RHP Taylor Sugg (3-2, 3.62) is scheduled to start for the Bolts against LHP (Mike Reagan 0-0, 0.00) and first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 CT.
