Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, Idaho - Chadd Krist and Willson Contreras each had four hit nights, as the Boise Hawks ended a three-game losing streak with a 12-2 victory over the Spokane Indians at Memorial Stadium.
The Hawks used a six-run outburst in the fifth inning, capped by a grand slam home run by Dong-Yub Kim, to take a 9-2 lead, cruising to their largest win of 2012.
Boise plated a pair of runs in the opening inning as Marco Hernandez scored from third on a passed ball, with Krist scoring on a Contreras bloop single to right. Spokane would get a run back in the third on a Preston Beck sacrifice fly, but Stephen Bruno doubled home a run in the fourth to extend the Boise lead to 3-1.
Leading 3-2 in the fifth, Krist and Contreras doubled home runs to give the Hawks a three-run lead, with Kim crushing a high-fastball for the first Boise grand slam since July of 2011.
Ian Dickson logged his first professional win, allowing one earned run on four hits in five innings of work, striking out six. Contreras was 4-for-5 with three RBI, Krist went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored for the Hawks.
Smerling Lantigua went 2-for-4 with a triple in the loss for the Indians, who had a four-game win streak snapped.
Tomorrow night, the Hawks send Willengton Cruz to the mound, opposite the Indians Abel De Los Santos at 7:15 p.m. The game will be carried live on 93.1 KTIK-FM.
