Boise Hawks News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Pounding out a season-high 16 hits, the Boise Hawks completed a three-game sweep of the Spokane Indians, winning 11-7 tonight before 2,054 fans at Memorial Stadium.

With the win, the Hawks recorded their first three-game sweep of an East Division rival since 2009, logged their first four-game win streak since July of 2010, and moved into sole possession of first-place in the division.

After the Indians grabbed a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, Boise responded, getting a two-run single by Yaniel Cabezas in the second to tie the score, taking the lead for good on a Ben Klafczynski sacrifice fly.

The Hawks would add three in the third - two on a Willson Contreras single, another on a Pin-Chieh Chen RBI double. They would lead 10-3 in the seventh, before Spokane got an RBI double from Nick Vickerson and a two-run homer from Brett Nicholas, pulling within 10-6.

Leading 11-7 in the eighth, the Indians loaded the bases with one out, but Dustin Fitzgerald struck out Nicholas and Guillermo Pimentel to get out of the jam - getting the final five outs for his first save.

Wes Darvill and Dustin Harrington each had three hits for the Hawks, with Chen adding two doubles, extending his hit streak to nine. Nicholas drove in three for the Indians with a 2-for-5 night, as Spokane tied a NWL season high with four errors and six wild pitches.

Boise hits the road for a six-game swing through Eastern Washington starting tomorrow night at Tri-City. Yao-Lin Wang gets the start opposite Vionnay Mayo at 8:15 p.m. (MT)
