The Quad City Flames continued their longest road trip of 2008-09 on Friday night with a 3-2 loss in Des Moines vs. the Iowa Chops. Eric Boguniecki scored in the final minute to win the game for the Chops despite a two-goal effort from Quad City's Kyle Greentree.

The Flames outshot Iowa 11-6 in a scoreless first period. Chops netminder David LeNeveu turned aside every shot he faced while also denying two Flames power plays. In the Flames net, Leland Irving made a half dozen saves while also facing a pair of power plays.

Kyle Greentree started the scoring when he netted a 4-on-4 goal with 4:57 left in the middle frame. Kris Chucko and Anders Eriksson assisted on the goal, Greentree's 18th of the year. Chucko's backhand chance was turned aside by LeNeveu, but Greentree converted on the rebound to give the Flames a 1-0 lead. The Chops answered three and a half minutes later when Brian Salcido scored on a shot from the high slot during a 4-on-3 Iowa power play. The tally was Salcido's fifth of the season and sent the teams to the dressing room with the score tied at one after 40 minutes.

The teams exchanged goals early in third period. T.J. Trevelyan netted his 11th goal of the season after working a give-and-go off the end wall with Petteri Wirtanen. The Flames responded two minutes later when Kyle Greentree scored on the power play following a cross-crease feed from Jamie Lundmark. The game remained tie until the final minute of the third when the Chops broke through for the game-winning tally. Eric Bogunieck accepted a feed from Wirtanen and streaked into Flames territory. He unleashed a shot from the right wing circle for his eighth goal of the year and the game-winning tally.
