The Bismarck Bobcats (40-13-2, 82 points) wrapped up the season's road schedule with another road win, defeating the Alexandria Blizzard (25-25-6, 56 points) Sunday night 4-3 in a shootout. The Bobcats closed out the road schedule with nine-straight wins and a record of 21-8-0 on the road. The Central Division Champions of the regular season will finish the regular season at home this week against Alexandria and Owatonna starting Thursday night.
Bobcats' center Jason Fabian was named "Central Division Player of the Week" in the North American Hockey League with three goals and four assist in the three games. Fabian scored the shootout winner on Friday in Albert Lea and was also a plus-4 on the weekend.
"Jason is just starting to understand how great a player he could be," said Bobcats head coach Byron Pool. "He's starting to play his best hockey at the right time of the year. It's scary to think how good he'll be next year."
Going on sale Friday night will be Central Division Championship t-shirts, which will be available to the public at the game against the Owatonna Express that night. There are a limited amount of short-sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts and fans are encouraged to buy them Friday night before they are sold out.
Bismarck will be playing Alexandria in the first-round of the playoffs and will host the Blizzard beginning Friday, April 3, 2009. The Bobcats host the Alexandria Blizzard this Thursday (7:00pm) and the Owatonna Express on Friday (7:30pm) and Saturday (7:00pm) in the V.F.W. Sports Center to finish the 2008-09 regular season.
